Who Mindbody is for
Mindbody is an all-in-one platform for fitness, wellness and beauty businesses, and for the franchises above them. Its navigation runs from gyms and yoga studios through spas to salons and barbershops, and the product is built for the whole business rather than the diary: classes with capacity, memberships with autopay, a point of sale, inventory, payroll, integrated payments, a marketing suite, and a consumer app with more than 3 million active users that lists you beside your neighbours. It is United States first, but it is sold in euros across the EU, with Mindbody Payments available in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Bookodile is a booking system, not a back office. It is for a business where the people are not interchangeable, where a room or a piece of equipment is the real limit on what can be taken, where one visit can involve two people, and where nobody wants a contract, a plan ladder or a customer account standing between a customer and a booking. Those are the rows where the two products differ most.
The pricing model, in practice
Mindbody charges per location per month with unlimited users, so adding people is free and adding a location is not. In the EU, Starter starts at €99 a month per location; the UK page says £89; Australia sells Go, Core and Growth at A$89, A$279 and A$369. Accelerate and Ultimate are quoted by sales, the US price list is not on the site, and there is no free plan and no published free trial.
The contract is the part to read before the price. The terms set a 90-day initial term, then 30-day terms that renew unless either side gives 30 days' notice; Mindbody's own blog describes fixed terms of 12, 24 or 36 months as an option by plan. Fees are non-refundable, ending early leaves the whole term payable, and a locked price can rise at the next renewal. A new client's first purchase through the Mindbody app costs a further 20%, capped at 30 in local currency, and the plan ladder is real: Starter has no rooms, no promo codes, no text messages and no editable permissions.
Bookodile charges per location plus per booking spot that actually took a booking that month, with every feature and add-on included at every price, and it is free at one location with up to two active spots and 40 bookings a month. There is no minimum term. The figures for your country are on the pricing page and the model is explained in What Bookodile costs.
Which is cheaper depends on shape. A single location with many people who all take bookings at once may pay less on Mindbody's flat per-location price than on a per-spot one; a small business, or one with several locations, usually will not. Put the two bills side by side for your real headcount, remembering that the Mindbody bill is Starter's, which is missing the rows above.
Two services, two people
This is the row worth reading Mindbody's own articles on: it has three mechanisms near it, and none is quite it.
The first is appointment add-ons. An add-on attaches a second service to one appointment, and the help centre is precise about what that means: add-ons are not separate appointments, they enhance the primary appointment without extending its length, and a customer can add one online only when the same staff member offers the main appointment and the add-on.
The second is Consumer Mode Book Multiple. On the consumer site, a signed-in customer can add several appointment types, each with any staff or a named team member, and book them all at once for the same day. Because each is an independent appointment, each team member is blocked only for their own — the closest Mindbody comes to the Bookodile behaviour. The same article lists the conditions: the feature is not available on all Mindbody sites and is switched on by support; it cannot be used with appointment waitlists, direct staff links or booking for someone else; and it lives on the consumer site, not in the widgets or the apps. The article does not say whether the second appointment is placed to start when the first ends. This page does not guess.
The third, prep and finish time, frees the middle of a long service so that the same team member can take a short appointment during it; the help centre says it is not meant to add a buffer between appointments.
In Bookodile the same thing is a combo service: one stage with one person and a second with another, as parts of one booking. Each stage carries its own team member, its own duration and its own room if it needs one, and each person is blocked only for their stage. The customer books once and receives one confirmation.
Switching from Mindbody
- The contract first. Check your order form for the term you are in; the help centre says cancellation needs at least 30 days' notice, is not available in the first 90 days, and is made by the account's Data Owner.
- Customers. Mindbody's client directory has no built-in export; copy and paste up to 1,000 rows at a time, or run the mailing-lists report, before you cancel — afterwards the data is available for no more than 30 days and a bulk export costs extra. Bookodile has no import tool yet; customers are created the first time they book.
- Bookings. Bookodile does not import them; run both side by side until the Mindbody schedule empties, then switch the link.
- Memberships, packages and gift cards. These carry balances. Bookodile has gift vouchers and discount codes but no memberships or packages, so any outstanding balance needs its own plan.
- Your booking link, the Mindbody app and Reserve with Google. The listing and the Google integration end with the subscription. Bookodile has neither; every place the old link lives — Google Business profile, bio, website — gets the new one, and a QR code is generated for the counter.
- Payments. If you take payments, deposits or autopay through Mindbody, you will need a separate way to do that. Bookodile records payments; it does not take them.
Where each one fits
Choose Mindbody if you sell memberships and classes, want payments, a point of sale and payroll in one system, want a consumer app and a marketplace sending new customers, want a branded app of your own, or need a booking page in a language Bookodile does not have.
Choose Bookodile if you want a booking system with no plan ladder, no minimum term and a free tier, if your customers should book without an account, if your people are priced differently, if a room or a piece of equipment limits what you can take, if one visit can involve two people, or if your customers read Slovak or Vietnamese.
Book buttons on Google, Instagram and Facebook#
Bookodile
No Reserve with Google or Instagram integration. Your booking link goes in your Google profile, your bio or a post like any link.
Mindbody
Reserve with Google in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong only; it requires Mindbody Payments and the Affiliate Network, a marketing network fee applies to each purchase, and it does not support waitlists. Booking on a Facebook page is on every package, and no Instagram booking button is documented. Source
