Who GlossGenius is for
GlossGenius is a booking, payments and business app for independent professionals and small teams in the United States. Its help centre says it is available only to businesses in the United States and Puerto Rico, the app is not offered in other countries' stores, and its card processing does not work outside those regions. The product is designed around the phone: the booking site's themes, forms and waivers, gift-card redemption, reviews, two-way calendar sync and the Google, Facebook and Instagram buttons are all set up in the mobile app, and the web dashboard is the second screen. Its pricing page sorts customers into five industry groups.
Bookodile is narrower on purpose. It is for a business where the people are not interchangeable, where a room or a piece of equipment is the real bottleneck, where one visit can involve two people, and where the customer may read Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese β or simply trade outside the United States. Those are the rows on this page where the two products differ most.
The pricing model, in practice
GlossGenius charges one flat fee per business account, monthly or yearly, in US dollars. Standard is $28 a month, or $24 a month paid yearly; Gold is $56 or $48; Platinum is $168 or $148. Two Practice plans with charting sit above that. The fee is not per person, but each plan carries a headcount. Standard allows one extra member, and only in the Accountant role; Gold allows nine in total; Platinum has no cap. So the first person who takes bookings alongside you moves you from Standard to Gold, and the tenth moves you to Platinum. Each extra location is billed on top at a rate below the plan's β $24 a month on Standard, $48 on Gold, $143 on Platinum. Card processing is a flat 2.6% on GlossGenius's own readers, or 1% or 0% with the rest charged to the customer as a convenience fee.
There is no free plan. The 14-day trial runs on Gold, needs no card, and when it ends the account is locked until a card is added. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, and fees are not refunded except within 15 days of the last payment.
Bookodile charges per location plus per booking spot that actually took a booking that month. A spot is one appointment you can run at the same time as another β your bottleneck, not your headcount β so five people who share one room are one spot, and a receptionist or an owner who takes no bookings is not counted at all. The figures for your country are on the pricing page and the model is explained in What Bookodile costs. It is free at one location with up to two active spots and up to 40 bookings a month, with every add-on included.
Be honest with yourself about which is cheaper for you. Gold is one flat fee for up to nine people, and a team of that size with every spot in use may pay more on Bookodile. A solo business under 40 bookings a month is free on Bookodile and paid on GlossGenius. Work out both bills for your setup before the rows below.
Two services, two people
This is the row worth reading GlossGenius's own articles on, because the feature is called one thing and works as another.
GlossGenius calls it multi-professional booking, and it exists only on the customer-facing booking site. When the services a customer selects are assigned to different team members, the site books up to three of them in one pass: the customer picks a time for the first appointment, and the second and third fall in after it. The order is a single business-wide Booking Order set in the mobile app, not something set per person. The help centre is plain about the mechanism: "Each team member requires a separate appointment to be scheduled." Because each stage is its own appointment with its own provider, each person is blocked only for their own appointment β the article describes no whole-visit blocking.
The limits the help centre states follow from that. The customer cannot reschedule the bundle at once, and cannot cancel it at once. If the deposit on any one appointment fails, the whole bundle fails. Staff cannot create one in the app or on the desktop; only the booking site can. Editing one of the linked appointments does not touch the others. At checkout each appointment is paid separately, split payment is not available, and each appointment sends its own scheduling, confirmation and reminder messages β three of each for a three-person booking. Which plans include it is not settled on GlossGenius's own pages: the plan table ticks it on every plan, and the feature articles name Gold and Platinum.
In Bookodile the same thing is a combo service: one service with one person and a second with another, as stages of one booking. Each stage carries its own team member, its own duration and its own room if it needs one, and each person is blocked only for their stage. The customer books once and cancels once. The honest difference in the other direction is that a combo is defined by the business β customers do not assemble any pair of services across any three people, as they can on a GlossGenius site; you decide which combinations exist.
Switching from GlossGenius
- Customers. GlossGenius exports the client list as a CSV β name, email, phone and date of birth, not notes β from the web, by the account owner. Bookodile has no import tool yet; customers are created the first time they book, and your team can add anyone by hand.
- Bookings. Appointment history comes out of GlossGenius as report downloads. Bookodile does not import bookings; run the two side by side until the GlossGenius calendar empties out, then switch the link.
- Your booking link. The old address is yourbusiness.glossgenius.com, and a custom domain only forwards to it. Every place that link lives β Google Business profile, Instagram bio, your website, the domain forward β gets the new one. Bookodile generates a QR code for the counter.
- Reserve with Google, Facebook and Instagram buttons. These are GlossGenius integrations; Bookodile has no equivalent. Your Google profile can still carry the booking link as its website or appointment link.
- Payments, cards on file and deposits. If you take these through GlossGenius, you will need a separate way to do it. Bookodile records payments; it does not take them.
- Gift cards, packages and memberships. Bookodile issues gift vouchers but has no packages or memberships, so anything customers have prepaid on GlossGenius needs to be honoured outside it.
- Text reminders. Your customers will get email confirmations and reminders from Bookodile rather than texts; text messages are built but not switched on.
- The subscription. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, and GlossGenius keeps the account's data afterwards unless you ask for it to be deleted.
Where each one fits
Choose GlossGenius if you want card payments, deposits and no-show fees inside the booking, a native app your team lives in, payroll, commissions, stock and a till, text reminders and campaigns today, a phone line to support, or forms with signatures β and you trade in the United States.
Choose Bookodile if you want a free plan that stays free, every feature without a tier, people who are priced or timed differently, a room or a machine that limits what you can take, a class that fills up and stops, one visit with two people as one booking, or a booking page your customers read in Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese β or a business anywhere outside the United States.
