Settings reference

Every setting on Website & booking page

The complete reference for Settings → Website & booking page — the website's on/off switch and what each state means, the address name behind both addresses, the one search switch, your own domain, the booking page's preview, logo link and badges, and booking on a site you already have. What each setting changes, and what happens when it is left alone.

Settings → Website & booking page is where customers find you: your website and your booking page share one address name, one search switch and one screen. Everyone whose role can open Settings at a location can change it, for that location only — each branch has its own website, booking page and addresses.

The screen runs top to bottom: the Website switch, the Address, Your own domain (once the website is on), the Booking page, and booking on a site you already have. The Website switch and your own domain act the moment you use them; every other setting here waits for Save at the bottom of the screen, and leaving with a change not saved asks first. How the website itself is built, edited and published is in Your website; this page covers the settings. Where a setting has a name in the data, it is given in code, so an assistant answering a question about your account can be precise.

The Website switch

The switch at the top (site_on) turns your location's website on or off. The line under it says which state the website is in:

What it saysWhat it means
Off — switch it on to build your websiteThere is no website yet. Switching on builds the first draft from your booking setup; nothing is public until you publish
On, not published yetA draft exists. Your website address opens your booking page until you publish
On and publishedAnyone can open it
On and published — search engines will see it once we've had a quick lookPublished, and kept out of search engines until a person at Bookodile has looked at it
Off — your address opens your booking pageSwitched off after it was made. Everything is kept; switching back on brings it back as it was
Taken down by BookodileSwitched off by Bookodile, with the reason. The switch cannot be turned back on from here

While the website is on, Open the website editor under the switch is the way into the editor.

Left alone: a business created on or after 17 October 2026 starts with the switch on and a draft waiting, unless the owner switched off Make me a website too while setting up. A business created before then starts with it off. Switching it off never deletes anything.

Address

Address name

The Address name (slug) makes both of your addresses: your booking page at bookodile.com/yourname and your website at yourname.bookodile.com. Change shows both new addresses before you save. The old addresses keep working and lead to the new ones, so links already printed never break.

The name is 3–63 characters of lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, and cannot start or end with a hyphen. Words Bookodile uses for its own pages are kept back, no name can contain "bookodile", and a new name is checked the same way a business name is before it goes on our address. A name another business already uses is refused. The rules are in What Bookodile does not do.

Your two addresses

Under the name, each address is shown with a button to copy it:

  • Website — yourname.bookodile.com, or www.yourbusiness.com once your own domain is live. Marked Published while the website is on and published, and Opens your booking page otherwise, because that is what the address does then.
  • Booking page — bookodile.com/yourname, always Live.

The addresses never change when you publish, switch the website off or edit it.

Show my business in search results

One switch for both addresses (search_indexable), on unless you turn it off. On, your booking page is listed with search engines, and so is your website once it is published and past its first wait. Off removes your booking page from our sitemap, asks search engines to leave out the booking page, the website, your public reviews page and your events pages, and changes nothing else — anyone with a link can still visit and book. A page already listed can take a few weeks to drop out.

The full behaviour, including when a new website is first listed, is in Being found in search and Showing up in search engines.

Your own domain

Shown once the website is on. Type a domain you already own, such as yourbusiness.com, and Connect; the website will live at www.yourbusiness.com. What the screen shows afterwards:

  • Your website isn't published yet, in red above everything else, while the website has never been published — a domain shows only a published website, and the editor's preview is only yours. Its button opens the website editor.
  • The domain and its state: Waiting for the records, Records are right, Going live, Live, Not published yet when it is live with nothing published, or Needs attention when a live domain has stopped reaching the website.
  • The registrar, when Bookodile recognises it from the domain's nameservers. The records work with any registrar.
  • The records to add — a TXT record named _bookodile, a CNAME record named www, and a URL redirect on @ that sends the name without www to https://www.yourbusiness.com — with a copy button for each name and each value, since a registrar asks for them in separate fields, and a tick once a record is found. Under them, where your DNS host keeps the redirect, when Bookodile recognises the host.
  • The name without www is ticked once yourbusiness.com really leads to the www address. When it opens something else, or leads there only over http:// because the DNS host's redirect does not do https, the screen says which. It never stops www going live; while it doesn't work the domain isn't shown as done, and Check now stays.
  • Send instructions — a ready message with every record and the redirect for whoever looks after the domain, which you share, copy or email yourself — and Ask Bookodile, which opens AI Chat beside the records.
  • Check now, and when it was last checked. Bookodile checks by itself every 30 minutes while it waits, every day once the domain is live, and every two hours while a live domain's name without www doesn't lead to it yet.
  • Disconnect, which puts the website back on its Bookodile address.

A domain is refused when it does not look like a domain, is a Bookodile address, cannot be found, or is already live on another website. Connecting or checking many times in a few minutes asks you to wait.

The whole process — the records, the check, and what happens when a live domain stops working — is in Connecting your own domain.

Left alone: no domain is connected and the website lives at yourname.bookodile.com.

Booking page

The booking page has no editor: what it shows comes from your services, team and opening hours, and its logo, colour and name from Design & Branding. Three things are set here.

Preview

Preview opens your booking page as a customer sees it — beside the website editor while your website is on, beside AI Chat otherwise. You can book all the way to the end: nothing is saved, nobody is emailed and no time is held.

Where the logo takes customers

logo_link_url — the address the logo at the top of your booking page opens when tapped, or your business name when you have no logo. Any web address works; yourwebsite.com is enough, and https:// is added for you.

Left empty, the logo opens your website's home page while your website is live — published, switched on and on the internet — and is not a link at all otherwise. An address you type always wins, so you can keep pointing at an old website for as long as you like. Where the link applies, and where it does not, is in Linking your logo back to your website.

What the page shows

  • Your rating at the top of the page — shown while the Reviews add-on is publishing your reviews. It is changed in Reviews, because turning it on publishes every review at once; this line only says whether it shows.
  • Category beside each team member (show_employee_tiers) — shows each person's category, such as Junior or Senior, next to their name on the booking page. Off unless you turn it on, and only offered once you have categories.

Booking on your own website

For a website you already have elsewhere: the snippet that embeds the booking flow in your page, inline or behind a button that opens it; your booking link to copy; and a QR code that points at your booking page, ready to download. The embedded version is always light, whatever the visitor's device prefers. Detail: Putting booking on your own website.

Worked examples

A barbershop moving off an old website. The owner switches the website on, publishes it, and connects the shop's domain, so www now opens the new site. The logo link was left empty, so the booking page's logo leads back to the new website by itself. A second barbershop that wants to keep its old site for a while types that site's address into the logo link instead.

A yoga studio renaming itself. The studio changes its address name from its old name to its new one. Both addresses move, the QR codes on its flyers keep working because the old addresses lead to the new ones, and the website's address follows without a second change.

A physiotherapy clinic that works by referral. The clinic turns off Show my business in search results, so neither its booking page nor its website is listed, and sends patients the link directly. A coach who works only with existing clients does the same.

A hair salon with Junior and Senior stylists. The salon switches on Category beside each team member, so customers see which category each stylist is in before choosing — the prices already differ by category, and the badge explains why.

Limits

  • One address name for both addresses. The website and the booking page cannot have different names.
  • One search switch for both. You cannot list the booking page and hide the website, or the other way round.
  • The booking page always lives on bookodile.com, even when your website is on your own domain; every Book button leads there.
  • One website, one booking page and one own domain per location.
  • The domain is connected here, never by AI Chat. The chat explains the records and checks them; connecting and disconnecting are on this screen.
  • A taken-down website cannot be switched back on here. The owner is emailed the reason and how to reach Bookodile.
  • The logo link does not apply inside the embedded widget, which already sits on your website.
  • The rating is switched in Reviews, not here.
