Changing your password now needs a code from your email
Anyone at a computer where you were still signed in could change your password and lock you out. Now Settings → Account first emails a code to your sign-in address, and the password only changes once that code is entered.
- The code is 8 digits and works for 10 minutes
- After five wrong tries it stops working — send yourself a new one
- Setting a first password on an account that signs in with Google asks for the code too
- Once the password changes, every other device you were signed in on is signed out
