# Working on your own — "Just me" mode

> What turning on "Just me" changes, what it deliberately leaves alone, and why your booking page can still offer a choice of people even when your dashboard has stopped mentioning staff.

Most people using Bookodile are one person. "Just me" makes the whole idea of
staff disappear from your dashboard without removing anything.

You will find it in **Settings → Members**, on the "Who works here?" card.

## What it changes: your screens, and nothing else

Turning on "Just me" hides the parts of the dashboard that only make sense with
a team — the Employees section, the member tabs, per-person pricing tiles, the
staff card and the staff filters on lists.

That is the entire effect. It is a decluttering setting.

## What it deliberately does not change

This is the part worth understanding, because it looks like a bug the first time
you see it:

- **Your booking page still offers a choice of people if there is a choice to
  offer.** That question is answered by how many bookable people you actually
  have, not by what you declared.
- **The calendar still shows everyone** who takes bookings.
- **Nothing is deactivated, deleted or migrated.** No data changes at all.
- **No booking is blocked.** Nothing starts failing because of this setting.

So a three-person shop that turns on "Just me" gets tidier screens while three
people carry on taking bookings exactly as before. Odd, but harmless — and
reversible in one click, with nothing to undo.

## Why the two answers differ

They answer different questions.

*"Do I want to think about staff?"* — only you know, and you might know it
before your first hire starts. That is the declaration, and it drives your
screens.

*"Is there actually a choice to offer this customer?"* — only the roster knows.
That drives what customers see.

Tying the second to the first would mean a customer being denied a choice
because of a preference about menu clutter.

## Switching between the two

**Choosing "Just me" while more than one person takes bookings** opens a short
dialog explaining what will and will not change, and offering the two things
people usually meant:

- that person has left → deactivate them
- that person runs the desk → give them the Receptionist role, or turn off
  "List as a service provider"

It then does whatever you choose. It never refuses.

**Going back to Team** needs no dialog — it reveals screens rather than hiding
them.

**Hiring your second bookable person sets Team automatically.** Adding someone
is an unambiguous statement that you have a team, and you should not have to
find a setting afterwards to explain it. This does not happen when you add a
receptionist.

## If your screens look wrong

If the staff screens are hidden while several people are taking bookings, the
Members card says so directly, names the count, and points at the way back.
Nothing is broken — the declaration and the roster have simply drifted apart,
which happens if you deactivate someone, choose "Just me", then reactivate them.

## Worked example

A barber working alone turns on "Just me". The Employees section disappears; the
calendar shows one column; the booking page skips "who would you like?" because
there is only one answer.

Six months later they hire someone. Adding that person flips the account back to
Team automatically — the Employees section returns, the calendar grows a second
column, and the booking page starts asking customers who they want.

## Limits

- **It is per branch**, and a new branch copies the setting from your first one.
- **It has no effect on organisation-level screens.** The full roster is still
  the full roster.
- **Removing a person's name from a screen is not the same as removing the
  picker.** "Just me" hides staff *screens*; it never hides who performed a
  booking.
