# Bookodile vs Setmore

> Setmore is a general appointment scheduler with a generous free plan, card payments on every plan and 24/7 human support. Bookodile is built for a business with people, rooms and prices that differ — and bills the spots you actually use, not the people you employ.

## [About Setmore](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#about)

- Website: https://www.setmore.com
- Headquarters: Portland, Oregon, United States
- Founded: 2011
- Built for: General appointment scheduling — salons, barbers, gyms, wellness, medical, legal, tutors, automotive and more
- Markets: United States first; English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Italian sites; prices in US dollars everywhere

## [What Setmore charges](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#pricing)

Per user, in US dollars everywhere. A staff calendar counts as a user even when that person has no login. Free covers four users; Pro is $12 per user a month, or $5 per user a month paid yearly. There is no trial of Pro — the card is charged at upgrade, with a 30-day money-back guarantee on upgrades made on the web. Setmore's own pages disagree on the details: the French and Spanish pricing pages describe Pro as 1–2 users, older navigation still shows a Premium plan, and the help centre refers to a Team plan, so check the page for your region before you decide.

| Plan | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 4 users; booking page carries a Setmore bar |
| Pro, monthly | $12 | Per user, per month |
| Pro, yearly | $5 | Per user, per month, billed annually |
| Live Receptionist | $99 | Per month, United States only; $2.25 a minute over the package |
| Enterprise | Contact | |

## What Bookodile charges

A base rate per location plus a rate per booking spot that actually took a booking that month, in country bands. Every feature and add-on is included at every price, there is no commission, and it is free at one location with up to two active spots and 40 bookings a month. The figures live on one page so they cannot drift: https://bookodile.com/pricing — and the model is explained at https://bookodile.com/docs/what-bookodile-costs.

## [Why businesses switch from Setmore](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#why-switch)

- **[You pay for spots, not for every name on the roster](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#reason-you-pay-for-spots-not-for-every-name-on-the-roster)** — Setmore counts every staff calendar as a paid user, whether or not that person ever signs in. Bookodile bills booking spots — five people sharing one chair is one spot — and a receptionist or an owner who takes no bookings costs nothing.
- **[The same service can cost, and take, a different amount per person](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#reason-the-same-service-can-cost-and-take-a-different-amount-per-person)** — Setmore stores one cost and one duration per service, so a senior and a trainee are priced and timed the same unless someone edits each appointment by hand. Bookodile prices and times a service per team member or per category, and the customer sees which is which.
- **[Rooms, chairs and equipment are part of the booking](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#reason-rooms-chairs-and-equipment-are-part-of-the-booking)** — Setmore documents class seats and events, but nothing about a room or a machine as a bookable resource. In Bookodile a service can need a room alone, a person alone, or both, with a capacity that is enforced when the booking is made.
- **[Two people, one visit, each blocked only for their part](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#reason-two-people-one-visit-each-blocked-only-for-their-part)** — Setmore's multi-service booking stacks services on the booking page only, cannot be used with 'Skip the staff', and sends one email per service; its help centre does not say whether a second service can go to a different person. A Bookodile combo gives each stage its own team member and its own duration, back to back.
- **[Every location in one account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#reason-every-location-in-one-account)** — In Setmore a second location is a second account — its own customers, staff, billing and settings, sharing only the login. Bookodile runs every location in one account with a group dashboard, shared people and one bill.
- **[One plan, every feature, including on free](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#reason-one-plan-every-feature-including-on-free)** — Setmore keeps the second reminder, recurring appointments, deposits, promo codes, two-way calendar sync and the removal of its own bar on Pro. Bookodile has no plans: every account, including a free one, has every feature and every add-on.

Not a trial — a plan a small business stays on. | **Yes** — Free forever for up to four team profiles, with the booking page, email confirmations and one email reminder. The pricing page says unlimited appointments on Free; the help centre lists unlimited appointments as something Pro unlocks. [source](https://www.setmore.com/pricing) |
| [No commission on bookings](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#no-commission) | **Yes** — No commission, no new-client fee, no per-booking charge. The bill is the subscription and nothing else. | **Yes** — No Setmore fee on transactions and no marketplace, so no new-client fee. Card processing is charged by the processor at its own rate. [source](https://www.setmore.com/features/payments) |
| [Every feature included](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#everything-included) | **Yes** — Every add-on is free and included — reminders, reviews, vouchers, the waiting list, multi-location, forecasting. Nothing is sold separately. | **Partly** — Almost everything sits inside Pro. The exceptions are Live Receptionist at $99 a month (United States only), Setmore Health with an unpublished price, and a second location, which is a second account with its own bill. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/12608591-manage-multiple-locations) |
| [The same features on every plan](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#no-plan-gating) | **Yes** — There are no plans and no tiers. Every account, including a free one, has every feature. | **No** — Pro holds the second reminder, text reminders, recurring appointments, deposits, promo codes, two-way calendar sync, automated Google review requests, API access and removing the Setmore bar from your booking page. [source](https://www.setmore.com/pricing) |

| [Processes your customers' card payments](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#payment-processing) | **No** — Bookodile does not take your customers' money. The payment-tracking add-on records what you were paid; payment stays between you and the customer. | **Yes** — Through Square, Stripe, PayPal or LawPay at the processor's rate — Setmore lists Stripe at 2.9% + $0.30 and notes rates vary by country — plus Tap to Pay, payment links and a cash register in the app. [source](https://www.setmore.com/features/payments) |

### [Taking bookings](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#group-booking)

| | Bookodile | Setmore |
|---|---|---|
| [A hosted booking page](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#hosted-booking-page) | **Yes** — bookodile.com/book/your-business, with your logo, colour, services and hours. One page per location. | **Yes** — A setmore.com subdomain with an editable slug, on every plan. It can be hidden from search or switched off. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490970-your-booking-page-url) |
| [Booking on your own website](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#embed-widget) | **Yes** — One snippet embeds the whole flow in any site — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or hand-built — inline or behind a Book-now button. A QR code is generated for print. | **Yes** — An iframe embed and a Book Now button, with guides for WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and others. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490991-embed-your-booking-page-on-your-website) |
| [Customers book without an account or an app](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#guest-booking) | **Yes** — A name plus an email or a phone number. No account, no app, no password. A web portal shows customers every booking they hold, if they want it. | **Yes** — Customer sign-in is a one-time email code, Google or Facebook, and the business decides whether it is required. Saving a card for later needs a Google or Facebook sign-in. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490883-set-up-customer-login-on-your-booking-page) |
| [Several services in one booking](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#multi-service-booking) | **Partly** — Combo services chain stages into one booking, and the extras you configure are offered during booking, in more than one round. Customers do not pick arbitrary pairs from the catalogue — you decide which combinations exist. | **Yes** — A 'Provide multiple services' switch lets customers add several services to a cart. Booking page only, not for classes, cannot be combined with 'Skip the staff', and sends one email per service. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490980-how-to-let-customers-book-multiple-services-in-one-appointment) |
| [Back-to-back services with different team members](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#multi-staff-sequential) | **Yes** — Each stage of a combo can have its own team member, its own duration and its own room, booked back to back. Each person is blocked only for their own stage, never for the whole visit. Staff move the whole visit in one step, at times that fit every person in it. | **Not published** — The help centre does not say whether the services in one booking can go to different team members, or how each person's time is blocked. It describes the result only as services stacked together on the calendar. |
| [Rooms, chairs and equipment as bookable resources](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#resources) | **Yes** — Rooms, chairs and equipment with a capacity and their own hours. A service can need a resource alone, a person alone, or both, and capacity is enforced when the booking is made. | **Not published** — Nothing in the help centre or the feature pages mentions rooms, chairs or equipment as bookable resources. The only capacity constructs documented are class seats and events of up to 50 guests. |
| [Classes and events with a capacity](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#group-classes) | **Yes** — Events with a capacity and a registration list for one-off things; a recurring class is a service on a resource with a capacity, so it fills up and stops. | **Yes** — Classes with a set number of seats and one instructor, with sessions added per date. Bookings close when a class is full. Recurring class sessions need Pro. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490889-class-booking) |
| [A different price per team member](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#per-staff-pricing) | **Yes** — A service can be priced per team member, or per category such as Junior and Senior, and the customer sees which is which. | **No** — One cost per service. The only variation documented is changing the cost for a single appointment, without changing the service. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490877-set-a-custom-cost-or-duration-for-a-single-appointment) |
| [A different duration per team member](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#per-staff-duration) | **Yes** — A service can take a different time per team member. Leave someone blank and they use the service's own duration. | **No** — One duration per service, with a per-appointment override. No duration per team member is documented. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490877-set-a-custom-cost-or-duration-for-a-single-appointment) |
| [Buffer time that blocks the calendar](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#buffer-time) | **Yes** — A buffer after every service blocks the person and any resource it used. Enforced on the booking page and in the booking API. | **Yes** — A per-service buffer added after the service, hidden from customers. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490952-add-buffer-time-between-appointments) |
| [A waiting list with automatic offers](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#waitlist) | **Yes** — A cancellation is offered automatically to whoever has waited longest for that service, with a three-hour countdown. Confirming books them straight in. | **Not published** — No waiting list appears anywhere in the help centre or on the class feature page. |
| [Recurring bookings](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#recurring-bookings) | **Partly** — Your team can create a repeating series from the calendar — weekly, every two weeks or monthly, up to 52 visits. Customers cannot book a recurring appointment themselves. | **Yes** — Pro only, and created by staff from the calendar — daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or custom, with an end date. Customers cannot book a recurring appointment themselves. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490894-recurring-appointments) |
| [Booking rules](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#booking-rules) | **Yes** — Minimum notice, maximum advance days, slot interval, auto-confirm or approval, and a cancellation window — one set of rules per business. | **Yes** — Lead time, scheduling window, cancellation notice and slot interval, set once for the whole account. Different availability per service needs Pro. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/6206490-set-a-lead-time-scheduling-window-and-cancelation-policy) |
| [Customers cancel or reschedule themselves](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#self-service-cancel-reschedule) | **Partly** — Customers cancel from the confirmation email, outside your cancellation window. Rescheduling is cancel and book again; there is no one-step move. | **Yes** — Customers reschedule or cancel from their email notifications, within the cancellation policy window, and from their account when signed in. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/3378413-understanding-automated-notifications-in-setmore) |
| [Deposits and no-show protection](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#deposits-no-show) | **No** — No card on file and no deposits, because Bookodile does not process payments. A no-show is recorded on the customer, not charged. | **Yes** — Deposits on Pro — a fixed amount or a percentage, one setting for every service, not refunded automatically. Full prepayment on all plans. No automatic no-show charge is documented. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/490938-how-to-require-a-deposit-for-bookings-and-reduce-no-shows) |
| [Extras offered while booking](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#upsells) | **Yes** — Extras are offered while booking, per service or per category, in up to several rounds, with an optional discount for adding them. | **Partly** — Customers are prompted to add more services, and surcharges or reductions can be shown on the booking page. No suggested add-ons per service. [source](https://support.setmore.com/en/articles/15460343-add-charges-or-reductions-to-your-booking-page) |

A three-person business can be free on Setmore and is paid on Bookodile. Compare the two bills for your headcount before anything else on this page.
- **[It takes your customers' money](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#strength-it-takes-your-customers-money)** — Card payments on every plan through Square, Stripe, PayPal or LawPay, Tap to Pay, payment links, a cash register, and deposits on Pro. Bookodile does not process payments; it records what you were paid.
- **[A person answers, day and night](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#strength-a-person-answers-day-and-night)** — 24/7 chat, email and phone support on the free plan, plus bookable onboarding and migration sessions. Bookodile's support is by email.
- **[Native apps and a wider ecosystem](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#strength-native-apps-and-a-wider-ecosystem)** — iOS, Android and desktop apps for the team, Reserve with Google, Facebook and Instagram booking buttons, two-way calendar sync on Pro, an API and Zapier. Bookodile's dashboard is a web app, its calendar sync is one way, and it has no public API.
- **[Thirty-one booking-page languages](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#strength-thirty-one-booking-page-languages)** — Including Czech and German, with the customer's local time shown automatically. Bookodile has four: English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese — two of which Setmore does not offer.

## Notes for anyone selling Bookodile

These are the claims not to make against Setmore, because they are not true:

- Do not say Setmore has no waiting list or no rooms and resources. Its help centre is silent on both, which is not the same as absent.
- Do not say Setmore cannot book two services with two different people. That is undocumented, not disproven.
- Do not quote a 200-appointment cap on Setmore's free plan. Setmore's own pricing page says unlimited; the cap is a third-party figure.
- Do not claim Bookodile is cheaper than Setmore for a small team. It usually is not — Setmore's free plan covers four users, and its yearly Pro price is low. Sell the capability, not the price.
- Do not imply Bookodile takes card payments, deposits or no-show fees. Setmore does; Bookodile does not.

## [Common questions](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq)

**[Is Setmore really free?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq-is-setmore-really-free)**

Yes. The free plan covers up to four users and includes the booking page, email confirmations, one email reminder and online payments through Square, Stripe or PayPal. Your booking page carries a Setmore bar until you move to Pro. Bookodile is also free, at one location with up to two active booking spots and 40 bookings a month, with every add-on included.

**[Can I move my customers from Setmore to Bookodile?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq-can-i-move-my-customers-from-setmore-to-bookodile)**

Setmore exports your customers as a CSV file. Bookodile does not yet import one. Customers are created automatically the first time they book, so a list rebuilds itself as regulars return, and your team can add anyone by hand in the meantime.

**[Does Bookodile take card payments like Setmore?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq-does-bookodile-take-card-payments-like-setmore)**

No. Bookodile does not process payments, take deposits or hold a card on file. Payment stays between you and your customer, however you already handle it, and the payment-tracking add-on records what arrived.

**[Which languages can my customers book in?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq-which-languages-can-my-customers-book-in)**

Setmore offers 31 booking-page languages, including Czech and German, but not Slovak or Vietnamese. Bookodile offers English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese, set per business, separately from the language you read your dashboard in.

**[What about Reserve with Google and the Instagram button?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq-what-about-reserve-with-google-and-the-instagram-button)**

Setmore connects to both. Bookodile has no such integration; your booking link goes into your Google Business profile, your bio or a post like any other link, and a QR code is generated for print.

**[How does the pricing compare for a shop with three people?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-setmore#faq-how-does-the-pricing-compare-for-a-shop-with-three-people)**

On Setmore, three staff calendars fit inside the free plan, and Pro is priced per user. On Bookodile, three people each with their own chair are three booking spots, which is above the free tier; the exact figure for your country is on the pricing page. If two of the three share one chair, that is two spots.

## Who Setmore is for

Setmore is a general-purpose appointment scheduler. Its industry pages run
from barbers and salons through gyms, tutors, lawyers and car dealers, and the
product is built accordingly: one price and one duration per service, staff
calendars, classes with seats, and a large integrations catalogue. It is US
first — prices are in dollars on every localised site, the Live Receptionist
add-on is US only, and the phone lines are American and British — but sign-up
is global.

Bookodile is narrower on purpose. It is for a business where the people are
not interchangeable, where a room or a chair is the real bottleneck, and where
one visit can involve two people. Those are the rows on this page where the
two products differ most.

## The pricing model, in practice

Setmore charges per user, and a user is any staff calendar — whether or not
that person ever signs in. Four are free. Beyond that, Pro is $12 per user a
month, or $5 per user a month on a yearly plan. There is no trial of Pro; the
card is charged on upgrade, with a 30-day money-back guarantee for upgrades
made on the web.

Bookodile charges per location plus per booking spot that actually took a
booking that month. People who take no bookings are not counted, and five
people sharing one chair are one spot. The figures for your country are on
[the pricing page](/pricing) and the model is explained in
[What Bookodile costs](/docs/what-bookodile-costs).

Be honest with yourself about which is cheaper for you. For a team of up to
four that wants what the free plan includes, Setmore is free and Bookodile may
not be. The case for Bookodile is what the rows below describe, not the bill.

## Two services, two people

This is the row worth reading Setmore's own article on, because it is the one
a multi-person business asks about first.

Setmore's multi-service booking is a switch called *Provide multiple
services*. With it on, a customer can add several services to a cart on the
booking page. Setmore documents three limits: it works on the booking page
only, so staff cannot create a multi-service appointment from the calendar;
it does not work with classes; and it cannot be on at the same time as *Skip
the staff*. It also notes that each service produces its own email
notification. What the article does not say is whether the second service can
be assigned to a different team member, or how each person's time is blocked
when it is. This page does not guess.

In Bookodile the same thing is a combo service: one service with one person and
a second with another, as stages of one booking. Each stage carries its own
team member, its own duration and its own room if it needs one, and each
person is blocked only for their stage. The customer books once and receives
one confirmation.

## Switching from Setmore

- **Customers.** Setmore exports them as CSV. Bookodile has no import tool
yet; customers are created the first time they book, and your team can add
  anyone by hand.
- **Bookings.** Setmore exports appointment history three months at a time.
Bookodile does not import bookings; run the two side by side until the
Setmore calendar empties out, then switch the link.
- **Your booking link.** Every place the old link lives — Google Business
profile, Instagram bio, your website — gets the new one. Bookodile generates
a QR code for the counter.
- **Reserve with Google, Facebook and Instagram buttons.** These are Setmore
integrations; Bookodile has no equivalent. Your Google profile can still
carry the booking link as its website or appointment link.
- **Payments.** If you take deposits or card payments through Setmore, you
will need a separate way to do that. Bookodile records payments; it does not
  take them.

## Where each one fits

Choose Setmore if you want card payments and deposits inside the booking, a
free plan for a small team, human support around the clock, or a booking page
in a language Bookodile does not have.

Choose Bookodile if your people are priced or timed differently, if a room or
a chair limits what you can take, if one visit can involve two people, if you
run more than one location as one business, or if your customers read Slovak
or Vietnamese.
